No sleep. Wide awake, room glowing from the fullness of the moon.
I can’t tell if I’m kept up by her power or from eating cocoa nibs before bed (mistake).
Maybe it’s a mix of both wrapped up in the heavy hearts of the world, and yet I’m awake and inspired.
This full moon always hits hard in October as it falls on my birthday month.
I’ve been feeling what I know to be anxiety ever since the eclipse, but this is different. The anxiety now a shift, a message to listen up, quiet the chatter of the mind so intuition can make way, hear what mother earth and grandmother moon are saying: now is the time to awaken.
There is so much in this world, so much contrast: ebb and flow, good and bad, joyful and painful, glorious and humbling, beautiful and devastating. This world can feel broken at times, lost in the heartache, knowing we have been here many times before, each time getting a little bit wiser, a little bit stronger. Now is the time to listen, there is something we must learn, pay attention to where we are, our thoughts, and our reality to do all we can to transform this pain into growth and freedom.
We stay stuck because we know the outcome in this cycle, and even though painful we say at least it’s familiar. When I’m lost in those moments and feel myself reaching back to old pattern of avoidance, withdrawal, repression, anxiety, anger, or sadness that will only sustain the suffering and leave the calling for another time: I choose instead to return back, back to my center of being, return to that inherent wisdom and guidance within: I turn inward. I choose to listen more closely, return to my practice and awaken so that I may eventually but inevitably heal these wounds within and around me.
The practice of meditation is the return inward.
When the world feels heavy, turn inward.
When life throws lemons at your head, turn inward, and then make lemonade and balance the pH levels in the body.
When you feel lost, turn inward.
When nothing else, turn inward.
Tuning in not only balances our nervous system, hormones, mind, and body but allows us to strengthen our intuition and rewire ourselves so that we become less reactive and more receptive.
The guided meditation below includes a breath practice of inhaling for a count of 4, retaining the breath for a count of 4, exhaling for a count of 4, and retaining the breath for a count of 4.
